“During these special times of year, take advantage of the opportunity you have to spend time with loved ones; have real conversations and enjoy authentic moments”
~Alex & Ani~
Good Monday morning Sewing loves! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend filled with lots of creative energy and plenty of sewing. I personally had a great weekend spending time with my favorite people in the whole wide world My Family! My Mom, sisters and I always have a great time together but even more so when you add our significant others and children. I mean it’s just great times all around! We get loud, laugh hard, eat great food and simply enjoy spending quality time together. I swear I wouldn’t change one thing about the special moments we spend together outside of making them happen more often.
Of course during the holiday season we tend to spend a lot more time together considering our children are usually out of school at the same time. While we have our traditional Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day festivities already planned out a year in advance, this year we’re thinking of doing something a little different. Now no one has come up with any concrete ideas yet but I thought it would be great to have a real GROWN-UP GET DRESSED UP Cocktail Party to kick the season off! I mean what could be better than getting all dolled up to partake in some great drinks, awesome food and loads of games that are sure to make your side hurt from all the laughter. I’ll tell you what’s better NOTHING! So in order to get everyone (namely my sisters) in the mood for the pending festivities I started working on my official Nina Ramel gear for Holiday season. I have so many fabulous ideas in my head for festive, fly attire but the problem is there’s only one of me. Hence I don’t have enough time to make them all happen so I decided to choose some of my favorites to get this party started.
Today I’m going with my love hate relationship with Sequin fabric! I’m telling you I love it but hate it at the same time! There are so many fabulous colors, sizes, weights and styles of sequin fabric these days that it’s almost hard to choose. Now keep in mind I said almost because choosing the sequin fabric I used for this look was an absolute no brainer. The first time I laid eyes on this fabric I fell in love with it and I knew a fabulous pair of pants would be in my future. The pants pattern for this look are Fit and Flare from the Nina Ramel Collection which you’ve seen me use quite often over the past couple of weeks. I purchased the silk top on sale from Banana Republic for a fabulous $25.00 and it’s a perfect match if I say so myself. I went a little light on the accessories but hey I thought the pants kind of spoke for the entire look. LOL I hope you enjoy how I decided to kick off my holiday gear and that you’re somehow inspired to get your Holiday sewing started if you haven’t already.
Hugs
Shari
For those interested in making a similar look you can use any commercial fit & flare pants pattern you like. Now although the Nina Ramel pattern does call for a zipper I eliminated the zipper and added a large shimmering elastic waistband. Yes this fabric has great 2-way stretch which allowed me to get the exact look I was going for!! Please note that I will probably take the hem up another 5/8" just to preserve the bottom of my pants.
It was a muggy day not the best for pictures so we are going to shoot them again!
