"2016 Is our year to Dream Big, Sparkle More & Shine Bright!"
~Me~
Happy New Year Sewing Loves! It’s the first Thursday of 2016 and I don’t know about you but I plan on making it a great day! I’m finally back to work at least temporarily and as hard as it was coming back I have to admit I’m thrilled to be out of THE HOUSE! Sheesh! Trying to keep still with your leg propped up in one position for days on end is the pits and I for one would rather be at work than lying in bed watching one more Law & Order re-run. LOL
Of course I haven’t been able to create or sew as much as I would like due to doctor’s orders but I did manage to finish the project I’m sharing with you today prior to my little mishap. Now being the diva that I am you know I tried my best to put that skirt on and snap a few pics, but trying to keep your balance on one foot without crutches or support is a lot more difficult than one would imagine! It’s a good thing I was in my studio alone when I decided to try this out so the comedy of me falling all over the place is between me my sofa and dress forms!! teeheeee Needless to say I scrapped that idea and decided hey that’s what manikins and dress forms are for Shari so let it goooooo!
Anyhoo despite the comedy of me actually trying to put the skirt on I must say it turned out great and the fit is perfect! I wasn’t really sure how I was going to style this particular skirt at first, so I played around with it (as you’ll see below) and came up with a few cute and sexy ideas. For those of you who may be interested in making this skirt for yourself (or anyone for that matter) the instructions along with a quick little video are posted on my DIY & Tutorials page of the blog so feel free to check it out. Until next time family I hope you all have a fabulous rest of the week.
Hugs

Pink Cotton Shirt & Sparkles!
Black Burnout Velvet Blouse & Sparkles.
Of course I love pairing this style skirt with a white structured shirt, it's one of my favorite looks! I love the look of excess jewelry with a structured shirt!
Here's a closer look at the Black Velvet Burn Out Blouse Fabric. It's really quite fabulous if I say so myself! LOLL
I decided to add bishop sleeves and faux leather cuffs to this blouse! I will admit I wasn't sure about this design at first, but the more I played around with it the more it grew on me!
As you know from my previous sequined fabric posts I choose to remove the sequins from the seam allowance to ensure that the seams will lay flat. Due to the type of sequined fabric I used for this garment (moves and changes color with the swipe of your hand) I decided to tape the sequins down and away from the seam allowance to protect my needles and EYES! LOL
Hey how did I miss those stragglers!!
I added large elastic at the waist for security because the fabric itself is extremely heavy. Of course you can use whichever width elastic you like for your waistband or leave it out altogether the choice is yours. Oh I almost forgot yes it is lined!
