"Discovery consist of looking at the same thing as everyone else and thinking of something different"

Happy hump day loves I'm back with a little California love for you today! If you know anything about the west coast, you know we do things a little different out in these parts. Wearing white after labor day may be taboo for most but in Cali if its cute, sexy and cool then we'll wear it. Don't get me wrong we don't go around wearing white linen, bikini's and flip flops every day but let's just say we do march to the beat of a different drum on the west coast. Which brings me to today's look which I finished several weeks ago but simply didn't have the time to take pictures with traveling back east and all. I really can't wait to wear this baby out on the town but for now I'm happy just being here sharing it all with you.
For this top I started with the new McCalls Pattern 7686 and decided to spruce things up with some striped fabric and a different sleeve treatment. Playing around with stripes can be fun if you don't take yourself to seriously that is! Based on the garment and design you definitely want to make sure your stripes line up when necessary to achieve that polished look. However there will be times when changing the direction of the stripes will not only makes the process easier, it will give your garment that extra little design UMPH that screams YESSSS! I decided that while this pattern is pretty fab all on its own I would kick the party into second gear by manipulating my stripes and sleeves. The process for creating the sleeve is really easy an I will place a pictorial on the DIY page on Friday for those interested in making this sleeve. Well loves I'm on to this stack of Christmas sewing on my table that's been calling my name and I can only hope that this tendinitis does flare up again! Wish me luck and keep your eyes open for that DIY Friday!
Hugs
Shari
Fabric Used for this top - light weight striped denim with 2-way stretch, so while it hugs it will still give as well. Again this fabric is light holds shape but gives in all the right places, which is important after a night out with the girls!
p.s. Sorry for the grim no smile look on my face I wasn't feeling well and was trying my best to get pics of several looks done on the same day. I really do love the top! LOL
