"What the daughter does the mother did"
~Jewish Proverb~
Well sewing loves as I'm sure you can tell by the pictures this is definitely not me! LOL No loves it's my mini me Britney Holland one of the absolute joys of my life! She's home from college for the summer and I have to say while I did miss her I couldn't wait to put her to work for My Daily Threadz. This Summer Britney will start handling more of my social media, assisting me in the studio and basically learning the ropes about how I do things around these parts. What's great about that is not only do I get to focus on other projects now that she's here to help out but I also get a break from taking pictures by letting her model my work for a while. WHEW mama get's to breath a little bit!
With that being said her first photo shoot for MDT was this past weekend and I have to say she did mama proud. I initially created this lace top and matching tube for myself but quickly realized I wasn't paying close enough attention and somehow miscalculated when I draped this top. How did I miscalculate you ask? Well the thing is it wasn't really a miscalculation as much as it was a dumb mistake! LOL Yes I wasn't paying attention while creating the pattern and I ended up draping the piece on the small dressform which is a size 4. Now mind you this has never happened to me before and the kicker is I didn't realize what I had done until I tried to put the pattern back on the size 12 dressform to check the fit. Yes family that's when it finally dawned on me duhhhhhh it doesn't fit because you used the wrong dress form! LOLL Mama needs some sleep!
When I tell you I just about fell out laughing at myself I truly did! I mean you have to laugh at yourself sometimes and not take this stuff too seriously otherwise you will go crazy. While I love this lace and I couldn't wait to cut into it I'm glad it looks as fabulous on her as I envisioned for myself! Oh well all's well that ends well as they say. I'm just happy to spend some time with my baby girl and the fact that she's even interested in learning more about what I do is icing on the cake. Well loves that's it for me and BritBrat today but I have more fabulousness on the way so stay tuned for more of the awesome twosome coming at you soon!
Hugs
Fabric - Lace I purchased from "The Fabric Shop" in La Puente California.
Top - Halter pattern I draped myself. The ruffles around the neck I created by simply cutting a long strip for the front and two small for the back about 4" high. I then cut around the flower design on the edge of the pieces to make it look more like flower petals and not just gathered strips of fabric.
Tube underneath - a simple square piece of knit fabric with a strip of elastic on the top to hold it in place. Finish off the hem and seams with serger and double needle.
Pants- A pair of white Jeggings I picked up from Kohl's! Yes I ran out of time trying to figure out what I did wrong so Kohls it was! LOL
