"I like clothes that are easy to wear. I like to be comfortable and confident."

Hello Loves and happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderfully creative weekend and that you managed to finish some if not all of your sewing projects. I actually took some time to refuel and get my body right with some much needed sleep! I guess you could say it was a truly lazy weekend for me! The great thing is I already had a few looks completed and ready for pictures so after my much needed nap I pulled myself together and got a few shots in.
One of the looks I was able to complete the week prior was this cute sporty ensemble inspired by one of my favorite designers Johanna Ortiz. While scrolling through some of my favorite Pinterest inspirations I found a picture I saved of a really cute hoodie and skirt look that I absolutely loved. I wanted to make it months ago but the weather was a bit warm so I ended up going in a completely different direction at the time. Then last week I came across a picture of Beyonce wearing the same exact look and decided it was now or never. Of course, I didn't have the sweater knit or the same color scuba/neoprene as the original Johanna Ortiz ensemble so I decided to go with a double sided grey/black neoprene to achieve my version of this fabulous look.
Creating the skirt was easy peezy considering I've made it more times than I can count, so the only thing left to do was to find a sweatshirt pattern I could alter for my version of the look. After going through tons of patterns in my stash it dawned on me that McCalls released a similar pattern not to long ago that would be an easy conversion for this look. So I went through my McCalls file cabinet pulled out M7688 pattern and went to work. The results turned out to be a really fabulous sporty look that I absolutely love and plan to make in several more colors for family!!! Well loves that's going to do it for me today as I have to prepare for a business trip this week so but I'll catch you all when I get back with more fab looks!
Hugs
Shari
Grey Top = I used McCalls 7688 altering the sleeve to a large bell that I pleated and added a double knit cuff too. The original design had a slightly different sleeve that I could have done but I wanted the majority of volume to fall at the bottom of the sleeve.
Grey Skirt = I used my own skirt pattern that you can create by following my instructions for the Flounce Skirt on my Video/DIY page. The fabric is a double sided neoprene that I picked up from Joann's last year! I haven't seen it since but you can find double sided neoprene at Mood Fabrics and Michael Levines just to name a few.
Pink Top = For the pink hoodie I used a really light weight scuba I purchased from Fabric Mart Fabrics last year. It's a lot lighter and doesn't hold the shape as lovely as the neoprene but I still love it. The black Neoprene skirt was something I made many moons ago and decided to pair with the pink hoodie.
