“Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style however is more about being yourself!

Hello sewing loves happy Monday and fourth of July weekend! Like most of you I have been swamped with work in such a good way these past several months so much so that I haven’t been able to really get in here and blog! Trust me I have missed you all like crazy but I think I’ve been able to touch base with many of you via other social media outlets. The good news is things will slow down just a little bit in late August but until then the grind is real and I’m having loads of fun discovering things about my style statement and how its constantly evolving. Which brings me to today’s post and a fabulous collaboration with Brian Masjedia founder of APC Fabrics.
When Brian reached out to me several months ago regarding a possible collaboration I wasn’t sure how I was going to squeeze it in considering all the other projects I had going on at the time. However after visiting his online store and checking out the beautiful textiles he had to offer I new this was something I wanted to do. Thankfully Brian was willing to work around my schedule and told me to go for it and simply create something fabulous as he knew I would. Of course most of you have already seen the white linen ensemble I created for our first collaboration and I must say this Orange little ditty is just as fabulous! This orange citrus open front dress is stylish and comfortable all wrapped up into to one awesome garment! While I originally had other plans for this amazing Orange Rayon fabric I’m glad I listened to my gut and switched things up. The flow, feel, color, and light weight texture of this fabric makes it a great choice for summer sewing. I never thought I would love orange fabric as much as I do now!
For this open front Dress/top (whichever you prefer LOL) I decided to mix two of my favorite summer patterns McCalls M7802 & M7604. These two patterns have a tons of options if you dig a little deeper and allow your creativity to flow. I decided to forgo adding sleeves as I wanted something light and airy especially considering things are starting to heat up here in California. I also wanted a design with great movement that could catch the wind and give that extra hint of drama every girl craves from time to time! I realized the only way to really accomplish said drama would be to leave the design completely open in the front. As luck would have it I was right y’all and I absolutely LOVE how this garment turned out! Truth be told this fabric was a gift from fabric heaven and I would definitely recommend that you cop a few yards before this beauty sells out.
Hugs
