"Creativity is giving yourself permission to see things differently"
~Unknown~
My MacGyver Jumpsuit! Yes I call it the MacGyver because I took pieces from several different patterns that I love and put them together to accomplish my desired look!! Over the weekend as I was organizing my closet I realized that I didn't have one black jumpsuit. This is quite surprising when you consider Iām a big fan of all things black & white. So I started messing around and sketching some pics recalling different design elements I loved from various looks. After I finished doodling I began searching through my large stash of patterns to see if I had anything that would help me pull it all together.
Needless to say I found three different patterns that had everything I needed except for the pockets (which I self-drafted) to construct my garment. Well everything turned out great; so much so that I plan to make several more of these using different fabric textures and designs. One might ask wouldn't it have been easier to simply draft the pattern from scratch? I suppose for some it would be but I love the challenge of manipulating/transforming existing patterns into something different and new. It just goes to show that the possibilities of what you can create starting with basic commercial pattern blocks are endless. All it takes is a little imagination, being able to look beyond what you see at first glance and a dash of creativity! I hope you have a marvelous day!
Hugs
