Good morning lovelies! This past weekend was an awesome experience as I participated in the African American Cultural Commencement ceremony at CSU San Bernardino. While I was a lot older than many of the other graduates I was still proud to be in the company of so many accomplished young men and women of color. I would like to give a big
Kudos
to all of the graduates for completing this awesome accomplishment and to their families for supporting and encouraging them throughout their journey. As they say it takes a Village! The last thing I’m going to say about school is IT”S OVER!!! I will be walking in the graduate commencement ceremony this Friday so yes it’s officially OVER! Now it's time for my permanent SEWCATION!
Now let's move on to some blog business for the week! I have officially posted the leopard print maxi dress tutorial on the video & DIY page of the blog and on my YouTube channel. The tutorial will only be posted on the blog for approximately two weeks to in order to preserve space on my blog. Everyone who has subscribed to my YouTube channel will have continual access to all my videos. Now keep in mind I do not have a videographer at this time so everything I do is on my own with my little makeshift equipment. As I always say it only gets better from here so stay tuned!
Since I was unable to post to the blog yesterday I am going to share one of my re-purposed projects that I recently completed. Last year I purchased a dress from a retailer online which I rarely do because of sizing issues and as luck would have it the dress was too small! I mean there was no way I was going to be able to zip the dress up as I was barely able to get it over my hips. Needless to say I really loved the dress but the retailer was all sold out of the style. So I thought to myself, I only paid fifteen dollars for the dress so why not take it apart draft new pieces with the extra inches needed and make a whole new dress exactly like it. Now I could have just given the dress away or purchased a replica pattern but you know me I love a challenge so I decided to go for it! The key to getting this process right is cutting the pieces carefully to preserve the integrity of the original pattern and using the appropriate fabric to duplicate the product. I hope you all enjoy the photo’s I’ve posted below and that you have a great rest of the week. I will be posting again on Wednesday in order to get back on track with my schedule so I will check in with you all then.

I made a new pattern using pieces from an old dress that no longer fit. Basically I took the dress apart, traced each piece on blue dot pattern paper, carefully added extra inches to each piece based on my new measurements cut them out and made a brand new dress! Repurposing at its best!
