I’m ready for cashmere, Fab boots, cozy sweaters and fabulous coats! In other words I’m ready for FALL!

Good Monday morning lovelies! Here we go doing what we do; saying goodbye to the weekend, as we prepare for a wonderfully productive week ahead. This past weekend was all about sewing for me and I mean seriously getting down to business and making some things happen. Of course I had some tech stuff to address but most of my time was spend cutting and sewing.
As promised on the blog last week I kept my focus on all things Fall! While we don’t really have all four seasons in California, at least not the way many of you experience it, we do have our chilly days from time to time. Consequently as a native Cali girl I’ve learned how to incorporate fall fabrics and styles into my wardrobe in a manner that works for our mock fall weather. Obviously I don’t get to show my mean coat and boot collection as often as I would like but that doesn’t seem to stop me from purchasing and sewing items specific to Fall weather.
One of my favorite things to wear during the fall would have to be a long dramatic skirt with a great ankle boot or fabulous high heel. So this weekend as I was playing around with my fall fabrics I decided to make a couple of skirts to go with several blouses and sweaters I already had in my closet. As I was going through my fabric stash I remembered I had some rust colored faux suede I had been dying to cut into for months. So I thought to myself, why not make a long circle skirt with pockets and a high waistband to kick things off.
Of course I have several self-drafted and commercial patterns for the basic circle skirt in my pattern arsenal but I decided to try a new one I picked up during the McCall’s sale over the weekend. I actually purchased this pattern as a beginner project for my daughter (because its so simple no directions required) but ended up using it myself for this skirt. I must say I do love this skirt but if there were one thing I could change it would be adding two to three inches in length for a more dramatic effect. Well all and all I think it turned out great and I believe it’s a great addition to my fall wardrobe! I hope you enjoy the photos by JML photography and that you have a wonderful week.
Hugs
