“Fashion has to reflect who you are, what you feel at the moment and where you’re going. It doesn’t have to be bright, doesn’t have to be loud! Just has to be you.”

Hello my lovely Threaders! It’s a great day full of great promise and wonderful surprises. I have some wonderful things in the works including deciding which specific MD Threadz pieces I will offer for retail sales, a style challenge I’ve been asked to participate in for a major Sport retailer due next week and as always creating new things for the blog. I’m extremely busy right now but I have to say I’m really having a great time with it all. When I started the process of documenting my sewing journey this year I had no idea what would come of it, let alone how the sewing community would receive me. I’m not ashamed to admit I was a little nervous about sharing my garments on such a large platform for others to see and comment on but to my surprise I’ve received nothing but overwhelming love and support.
As a result of the support I receive from all my lovely Threaders out there I decided it’s time to push myself a little harder creatively and DREAM a little bigger! With that being said I’m brushing up on my draping and drafting skills with the hope of taking my blog and MD Threadz to the next level. What started out as something to do in my spare time to ease my mind after a long day at work has reignited a passion for creating and sharing my love for all things fashion. So it’s time for me to kick it up a notch sew family! It’s time to branch out and leave fear and insecurity behind. As I look forward to great things happening with MD Threadz what I look forward to most of all is being able to share it with YOU!
Hugs
Here’s a simple dress I created using a 1960's vintage simplicity high neck top pattern. This look can be easily recreated using any turtleneck shirt pattern! I simply measured how long I wanted the dress to be starting from my natural waist measurement to over my knee (or however long you want it) and added that number to the actual front and back bodice pattern pieces at the side seam, center front and center back. Nothing major all really quick and easy changes. Please note this method is best used with 4-way stretch knits and you still may need to add a zipper depending on the thickness of the fabric which is what I did for this particular dress.
