“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.”
Hey family happy Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderfully productive week full of inspiration, creative energy and all things fabulous. As for me I’ve been doing some fashion research, vintage style as I continue to work on ideas for my Spring wardrobe. I can spend hour upon hour just looking at Vintage patterns from every decade especially those from the sixties and seventies. There’s just something about that era in fashion that continues to inspire me even today.
It’s funny because I can recall having long talks with my grandmother and she would say “You know there’s nothing new under the sun Nina!” As I grew older and began to fall in love with fashion and its history I realized how true her statement was! If you look closely at today’s runway there’s no denying that the chicness of yesteryear runs deep through the industry’s top fashion houses. I mean seriously think about it! Fashion and the industry as a whole is comprised of various individuals who put their own spin on a repetition of ideas. The fact of the matter is the actual allure and artistry of it all comes from the individual and how they interpret what fashion mean to them. Which brings me to today’s post and my fascination with Vintage patterns!
There’s so much to love about vintage patterns and I for one would trade every new pattern I have for an even swap of classic fabulousness. Just looking at the cover, the artistry and the posing of the model gives me life! For me it happens instantaneously I can actually see myself in that very piece striking the exact same pose and BAM I’m drawn in! As with any other pattern I not only see myself in the same design but I look beyond the obvious and try to visualize other styles the pattern could morph into. I’ve learned through experience just how much staying power vintage patterns have. There’s no here today gone tomorrow it’s all here today here AGAIN tomorrow. That’s why its so important to think outside the creative box! Don’t just look at what you see on the cover of the pattern, I guarantee there’s so much more to see. I hope you enjoy my first Vintage pattern picks of the year; I promise there will be more. If you’re interested in purchasing any of the patterns you see posted here you can find them on Etsy by simply searching “Vintage Vogue Patterns.” Have a great weekend family!
Big Hugs
