“Success Is Liking Yourself, Liking What You Do & Liking How You Do It”
~Maya Angelou~
Good Morning loves and happy Monday to you all. It’s time to hit that grind and get those creative juices flowing as we embark upon a week filled with opportunities yet to be discovered. While the past couple of months have been filled with both triumphs and a few setbacks I choose to look at it as another opportunity for growth. I’m sure many of you have noticed that I haven’t posted as often as I use to here on the blog and my other social media accounts over the past several weeks. Well family I had to take a step back and reevaluate how I was going to balance family, work, my blog and other opportunities that have recently come my way. Let’s just say I needed a moment to get physically healthy and gather my thoughts in order to decide which direction I was going to go.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think blogging about my sewing and fashion journey would lead to such an out pouring of love, support and encouragement. Lil Ol’ me just wanting to share a small part of my life via this outlet has led to some pretty fantastic opportunities not to mention some awesome friendships. Needless to say I’m still in the re-working process but I truly believe when it’s all said and done not only do I win but we all do! After all I see this as a joint sew family venture! So while I may have slowed down for just a minute please know that I’m not going anywhere anytime soon! Thus as I continue to build a bigger, better M.D. Threadz I thought it would be great to start the week off by sharing a wonderful resource with my sewing family.
I recently received a great little book by Amy Barickman called the “Magic Pattern Book” turning six (6) patterns into thirty six (36) different styles. Now if you know anything about me you know I will find a way to turn that thirty six into seventy two different styles! LOLL This little book is full of fantastic information from the sewing basics, how to choose the proper fabric for your projects, altering patterns (always a favorite) and various other tricks of the trade. This resource is great for those who want to learn how to take existing patterns and incorporate your own ideas/design elements. There is a fantastic CD in the back of the book with all the patterns included for you to print out as you so desire. While many of the patterns are pretty basic I will definitely be using it as a starting base for other fabulous ideas I have dancing around in my head. Overall this gem is a great buy for various skill levels and I would definitely recommend adding it to your sewing library (see pictures below). Well loves that’s it for today I will see you later this week with some new sewing projects I finished up over the weekend. Until then keep smiling, loving and sewing!
Hugs
Shari
Here's a Sneak Peak inside this wonderful little nugget of information! Every chapter begins with a little introduction of what you will need to get started.
Then there's the "Meet the Family" page that shows you the different pattern options for that particular chapter. Keep in mind the patterns are included on the CD and with a little know how you can alter them beyond what you see in the book.
Of course knowing what fabric to use is a plus and yes this book has several
great suggestions to get you started.
Yes! There's skirts, tops, jackets, cardigans, dresses and accessories
all rolled up into this gem of a book!
At the beginning of the book the author gives great pictorial tips on how to alter your patterns!
