“Playing Dress-Up Begins at Age Five and Never Truly Ends”
~unknown author~
Happy Thursday my lovely sewing family! I’m happy to report I’m back and ready to get some posting done! Unfortunately everything didn't go quite as planned this past weekend and I have the sewing battle scars to prove it. When a specific project doesn't work out quite as I planned I think of something else sewing/fashion related to post or I’ll try to shoot a quick tutorial so I’m not away from you (my sewing family) and the blog for too long. However, this go around I decided to stop everything grab some fabulous fabric I had sitting on my shelf, pull out a quick and easy pattern and simply PUSH through!
Keep in mind family I've never had two epic sewing fails in one week ever!! So to say I was a little disappointed in myself this week would be a huge understatement. After sulking for a couple of days with no sewing I realized I didn't actually fail I simply needed to rethink my design and come back to those projects later. So that’s exactly what I decided to do. I put the other two projects on hold, grabbed an oldie but goodie pattern, cranked up the music and whipped this little ditty up to share with you today. Of course I’m still getting my sewing legs back after my recent health scare but I have to say there’s nothing like two old friends (Butterick & McCalls) to get you back in the saddle again.
The fabric I used for this project is EVERYTHING! It’s so vibrant, light and fun I knew it would work great for this particular look. The top is McCalls 6650 which I altered into this halter design and the pants are of course my favorite wide leg Pants pattern Butterick 4807. Keep in mind because this is a woven fabric with no give I went up a size in the pattern, altered the crotch a tiny bit and added a zipper to the back of the pants. YUP! Worked out GREAT! Overall this project was a great way to recover from my sewing blues and I felt a lot better about myself once it was done. Well loves I’m off to Maryland for the next five days so I’ll catch up with you when I return. Here’s to a great rest of the week and I hope you enjoy the pics!
Hugs
