Hello dear sewing family I hope everyone had a nice long weekend filled with plenty of fabulous sewing and or crafting. It just so happens that I was finally able to get through a few projects myself and even managed to take a few pictures in the process. Yes you read correctly, my inner diva was screaming to get out and shine so I got busy creating something that would work despite this monstrosity on my leg! LOL I knew if I wanted to get back on my feet (teeheehee) I would have to create something easy that would accommodate my cast while hiding it at the same time.
I thought the best way to do this would be to use two patterns from my personal line the Nina Ramel Collection. So I decided to use the fit & flare pants pattern and pair it with my turtleneck (with front bow) pattern from the same collection. For the turtleneck I wanted to keep it simple and chic so I used a black ponte knit that I’ve had in my stash for some time. Now for the pants I went in a completely different direction using a raised rose carved knit in the hopes of adding some texture to the all black ensemble.
To complete the look I decided to add this fabulous black jacket (I almost forgot to mention) that I purchased last year from a fabulous store on melrose where I often shop. The jacket was about two sizes to big but it was the only one of its kind so I snatched it up with the understanding that I would have to make the alterations myself. It sat in my closet for months until now as I felt determined to wear it with this ensemble. It was no easy task but I finally made it through the alterations and it fits perfectly (as long as I don't gain weight). LOLLL Oh did I mention it was a beast to alter and I will never do that again and I do mean NEVER! Needless to say everything turned out great proving that you can definitely rock black on black when you keep it simple, use the right fabrics and add just the right amount of textured funk! Well loves that’s going to do it for me today, I hope you have a great rest of the week and I’ll check back in with you soon!
Hugs
Shari
The blazer was purchased last year about two sizes to large and I did all the alterations to fit myself! It was rough!
Yes I have my cast on and if you look closely you can see it in the picture above in the back view!
A carefully placed handbag works wonders when you really want to hide something!
BLACK on BLACK really can work! Oops look at my toes peaking out of my cast! LOL
