“Great design is eliminating all unnecessary details”
~Minh D. Tran~
Good Monday morning loves I’m back rested and optimistic about what this week will bring. The weekend was busy but great at the same time and I have to say I love it when things come together just as I plan. As luck would have it I was able to get some sewing done, between business projects, errands and basketball practice with my son. Anytime I can get my sewing projects done and complete my other tasks it’s an overall great time!
Anyhoo, have you ever had a moment when a song, a color, a taste or smell of something triggers a memory in you that makes you lean back with a smile that only you understand? You know that thing that makes you close your eyes and groove down memory lane! Well that’s what happened to me this past weekend. I mean I was in my car on my way to lunch with a friend and all of a sudden Kool & the Gang “Summer Madness” came on followed by Will Smith’s version of “Summer Time.”
When I tell you I was in the groove zone I mean I was in the groove zone! LOL Thoughts of childhood friends and family began to flood my mind as I reminisced about what I was wearing then, what my friends and I were doing and how much simpler life was. We were so engaged in conversation, hanging out and spending time actually talking to one another “NOT TEXTING, EMAILING OR FACE TIMING!” You know a time when we genuinely enjoyed life and one another!
So when I got back to my studio I played the song over and over again and began to play with the fabric and before I knew it I had Three looks done! SEE THE ZONE I TELL YOU! Ahh that summer madness is so sweet! I hope you enjoy your week loves and every once in a while you let the summer madness take you to a time and place where the memories are SWEET!
Hugs
Of course I had to throw in an off the shoulder summer shimmy project with my Marsha Marsha Marsha shoes and a fab bag. Oh but don't worry more fabness coming this week and it's all about the Summer Madness!
Fabric-is a fabulous STRETCH Denim from "The Fabric Shop" in La Puente
Top and High Waist Skirt- was drafted as part of my own personal pattern collection! however if you are interested in this look you can shorten, slash and spread the new simplicity off the shoulder pattern S8124. To create the denim pencil skirt go to my DIY & Video page and use the instructions for the flare skirt stopping at the knee and adding a split in the back. (which means DON'T cut back skirt piece on the fold to account for split)
