"Fashion is the only game you can win by breaking the rules"

Hello sewing loves I'm finally back with a few things to share! I know I've been out the loop for several weeks but trust me in a little while it will all make sense. In the mean time I'm back with a couple of posts to let you know I'm still alive and kicking. As we prepare for Fall with deep and fabulously rich color palettes I still have a little bit of summer to get out of m system.
While at Joanns fabric a couple weeks ago I came across this really fab pink striped cotton fabric that I just had to have. I'm usually not to crazy about stripes or pink but I thought to myself what the heck this could turn out to be something really fabulous so I grabbed a few yards. Of course at the time I had no idea what the heck I was going to make with it until I came across this fabulous Vintage Vogue skirt pattern from a FAB vendor on Etsy. As soon as I saw the pattern I knew the flounce options would allow me to creatively manipulate the direction of the stripes while providing the right amount of UMPH to kick the design up a notch.
As luck would have it I was right and I actually love how this little baby turned out! I decided to pair the skirt with a top I purchased from a vendor in downtown Los Angeles specifically for the drama of the sleeves. I have to admit I wasn't to crazy about the fabric used for the top (not great quality) but I didn't care because my main purpose was the sleeves. Trust me creating this type of sleeve is sooooooo easy and I'll be sharing how you can add them to any design via a tutorial coming soon. In the mean time I hope you enjoy this last little bit of summer shimmer I'm bringing to you before we take on Fall and all its glory!
Hugs
Shari
