Hello all my sewing loves out there in cyber land! I hope everyone had a fabulously creative weekend filled with lots of sewing, creating and designing. Today's post is going to be quick and easy because I'm totally swamped at work and I have a meeting in an hour so I got to squeeze this one in while I have a chance. This past weekend I was working with tons of neoprene, knits and prints a I prepare for another special project I have coming up. I have so many things going on right now; not to mention preparing my son for his first year of high school and getting my daughter settled in for her junior year in college, I've been totally swamped. That being said I didn't have much time to sew anything spectacular to share on the blog so I had to whip something up that was an absolute no brainer.
Since I had party to attend in the midst of all my other craziness I thought why not just whip a a cute little top that will work with my favorite pair of Free People Jeans. Of course you know I love anything off the shoulders and I can make a cute little top in no time, so I grabbed my McCalls top pattern 7543 that I previously cut and altered and went to work. Trust me whenever you need to whip something up fast this a great pattern to go with. There are several variations to the original pattern which leaves the door open to many more with a little imagination and some elbow grease as my grandma use to say. All in all cutting and sewing this baby took approximately one hour from start to finish no worries and no fuss! I didn't have to hem or trim anything thanks to the fabulous rough edges of the denim I chose for this project. Just side seams, inserting sleeves, creating my own elastic casing (instead of rolling over the top) and I was all done! I'm telling you sew family it's a no brainer that totally rocks! Well loves that's it for me today (see I told you short and sweet) I have to prep for my meeting so I'll check in with you all later in the week with more fabulousness!
Hugs
This light weight denim fabric was purchased during Joanns 30% off Denim Sale for $11.99 a yard. The Fabulous Free People Jeans I wore with top to the party are not seen here but you can find them on their website. I plan to give this top away and make another one for myself that has twice the fullness.
