My Life is JUST Fine, Fine, Fine, Fine OOOO!
Learning to Bloom Where I'm Planted!
Hello sewing loves I'm back and Happy Monday to you all! This past weekend I was feeling some kind of way, I mean really all up in my feelings! Feeling uneasy, inadequate, unsure and downright overwhelmed! Now it wasn't because of what someone had done or an experience I had NOPE! I guess the best way to describe it was this feeling of anxiousness from having so much in me so much I want to share, so many dreams and ideas that haven't materialized yet. While my dreams and heart are BIG the reality is I'm just one person and I'm realizing that my vision requires a village! LOL Unfortunately this doesn't stop my mind from working or my heart from dreaming about what God willing, will be one day. I don't know about you but as a creative person sometimes PURPOSE and DESTINY are speaking so loudly that relief only comes when what's in my heart and mind actually materialize. So around 10pm Saturday evening I walked out to my studio because purpose wouldn't let me sleep and decided to work until sleep would eventually overwhelm me. Instead of turning on the television I turned on my music and wouldn't you know this song by Mary J Blige called "Just Fine" was playing as if she were speaking directly to me! When I tell you I smiled, danced and worked until my mind said "okay I'M DONE" that's exactly what I did. As a result the next day when I woke up I felt good I guess you could say I felt JUST FINE! Slowly but surely I'm realizing that sometimes you have to bloom where you are planted! I mean literally whatever stage in the process God has you in you have to roll with that. The key is remembering to stay focused, keep your eyes on YOUR JOURNEY and never compare your walk to that of someone else's.
Once I shook all those anxious, uneasy feeling off with some help from God and Mary J. Blige I was able to get some work done and move forward. Not only did I finish two quick and easy projects but I also took a minute to write down everything I want to accomplish for My Daily Threadz within the next six months. Will I hit them all........ I don't know but I feel great about the future and what I believe God has in store for me. In the meantime loves as I work toward those goals here's one that I did manage to finish over the weekend. The idea for a fabulous swing cape that was fun, flirty and casual has been on my to do list for quite some time. Unfortunately I didn't have any fabric in my stash that I wanted to use and I didn't have any luck fabric shopping in downtown until a couple of weeks ago when I came across this really cute scuba knit. Now normally you wouldn't use scuba for capes I know but hey I'm always down for pushing the envelope when it comes to fabric and patterns. The thing about that is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't! LOLL This time it actually worked and I have to say I really enjoyed making this one. I used a vintage McCalls hooded cape pattern I had in my stash and paired it with a knit top and some cute pastel skinny jeans from H&M. After finishing the cape I had a few yards of this fabric left and was able to whip up another staple for the summer that I'll share with you soon. Well loves that's enough for one day, I hope you all have a fabulous rest of the week and remember to BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED.
Hugs
