"Create your own style, let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others"
~Anna Wintour~
Hello loves it's Monday and I must say I'm feeling GOOD! I don't know if its this fabulous fabric that's got me hyped or how this ensemble actually turned out but either way I'm feeling pretty good! I recently shared a sneak peak of this fabulous Spring look on Instagram but have since made a few changes from the original version i shared. Now don't get me wrong I was definitely feeling the original look but decided to flip the script a little bit and make a few changes here and there. I thought a great way to add a little more humph would be to switch up the sleeve action on the coat and pair it with a nice wide leg pant instead of the cigarette style I originally planned.
For all those who know and follow me you already know how much I love a great sleeve especially the pinched sleeve style I've grown to love. So I decided to cut the bottom half of the sleeve away from the coat and replace it with the pinch & tac treatment you see below. I also cut out the ties that came with the original pattern for this view and added them back into the design. Yup quick easy and chic just how I like it! I unfortunately didn't have it ready to wear during my birthday week but I figured what the hell it would be great for Mothers day or maybe even Easter Brunch. Either way it still goes in the win column! Well loves that's going to do it for me today as I have a ton of other projects to get done including something you've all been waiting for. SHHHHH I can't tell you what it is just yet but I promise you're going to love it.
Hugs

Here's how I made the look!
The fabulous light weight coat was made using the new Simplicity Pattern 8554 View A. I cut the bottom portion of the sleeve separating it from the top portion, doubled the length and used slash spread method adding about 4.5 inches into the overall width. You can see my video on how to make this type of sleeve on my video/DIY page.
For the Pants I used my own personal pants block and changed it to wide leg pants.
The fabric is a stretch cotton I Purchased from Michael Levine Fabrics in Downtown Los Angeles (No longer shown on website).
