“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment!”

Hello my fellow sewing loves happy Monday to you all! I hope everyone had a wonderfully creative sew weekend! If not no worries there’s always next weekend and the one after that God willing that is. I had big sew plans in store for this past weekend but as luck would have it, it turned out to be a pretty chill slow down and enjoy your life kind of weekend. While I did spend some time in the studio on Saturday overall I kind of just took my time with a few projects listened to some great music had some wine with my beautiful sister and enjoyed hanging out with my son and hubby for a little while. Overall it felt good to take a step back enjoy sewing at my own pace for no other reason than the love of it and carving out some time to enjoy the people who matter most to me.
Of course during my slow sew weekend I managed to crank out these fabulous embellished bellbottom denim pants that turned out to be a total hit with those passing by during my photo shoot. Having people stop and stare at me during photo shoot makes me extremely uncomfortable but this time I tried hard to focus on what I was doing and enjoyed the fact that they actually loved what I was wearing. LOL Whew it was hard cause it makes me so self conscious but oh well what can you do but suck it up and keep it pushing. For those following me on social media you know my current style vibe includes several denim, cotton and linen looks. Yes yall I’m not sure why but when Cali got a little bit of sunshine my whole entire vibe changed and I was all up in my hippie boho chic feelings. I already have several pair of bellbottom pants cut out for spring but I have to tell you this may be my absolute favorite pair of all time! Not just of the ones I’ve made but out of all the bellbottoms I own! The fit is so so soooooo perfect, the denim feels ohhhhh so good and the rose embellishments are exactly what I thought they would be AMAZEBALLS! I swear I can’t count the number of times people stopped to ask where I purchased my pants from and it felt oh so good to say I MADE THEM MYSELF! Yes having others love your work is great but even if no one else loved them they would still be my favorite. LOL
I know many of you are wondering UHHH Shari so which pants pattern did you use to achieve these fabulous bells? Well loves no commercial pattern was used for this look in fact I used my own personal fitted pants block and converted it into the perfect bellbottom pattern just for me. However because I love yall so much I created a DIY showing you how to get this exact same look and you can find it on my VIDEO page. Yes that’s right you can create this same style with a few tools including your favorite flare leg or skinny jean pants pattern. So make sure you check it out I promise you can’t go wrong you really can’t. As for the top I started out with a beautiful light weight cotton print hi-low top that I made but decided to switch things up with this fabulous linen top I purchased from Zara about two years ago and I have to say I couldn’t have made a better decision switching these pieces up. Oh and not to worry I will be sharing the cotton print top I made later this week and I know you’re going to love that one too. Well loves that’s going to just about do it for me today but stay tuned I have more denim and cotton looks coming up real soon.

Top Zara USA Two years ago they sold out of this top but I’m sure there are several commercial patterns out there that can get there.
