Wow it’s Sunday and here I am making time for what I love! Yes I’m here sharing my latest make with all of you as I prepare my heart and mind for warmer weather good vibes and new ventures. Today was a great day which is a good thing considering the year we’ve all had! It’s been a challenging year for many reasons and even in that I’ve learned to grab a hold of joy and light whenever and wherever you can find it! Life has me quite busy these days but I realize for the first time in a long time that continuing to do what you love is a must. With that being said I plan to move forward in love with joy in my heart and without apology for doing more of what I love. So loves dust ya shoulders off with me and lets get this creativity poppin’ in 2021!
In December one of the Nina Ramel Fabric box options was this fabulous teddy bear knot Boucle fabric! I had big plans for this beauty in December but unfortunately with the planner sales and everything else I had on my plate at the time I never got around to it. After changing my mind about what I wanted to make at least four times I finally cut into my stash in January. I really wanted to have this look completed before my Birthday so I could take pictures but NOPE work just wouldn’t let me be great! So I took a step back took my time and created something fabulous if I say so myself! LOL. I created this same cape with a different pair of pants many many years ago so creating it again was a no brainer. For the cape I used Burda 7154 which is really easy to make and something that should appeal to all skill levels. The pants are Burda pattern 6891 for woven fabrics which was perfect for this slight two way stretch Boucle. While the pattern doesn’t include lining I created one for myself to avoid having this fabric directly against my skin. Listen its a great fabric but not something I want to wear against my lady parts without lining! NOPE!
If there is one thing I would tell you about the cape pattern its be mindful of the length! I decreased the length about 3-4 inches and measured with my 4.5” heels on which I thought would be perfect based on my notes from the previous time (so I didn’t even try it on before closing it up). Of course I thought I nailed it but realize nope I should have gone another three inches (UHHH my notes were clearly off). It didn’t help that I picked up the wrong shoe box when I left to take pictures so I was shorter by an inch! LOLL Oh well we made the best of it and it only took us thirty minutes to get through the photoshoot! A miracle when its just me and the hubby! Overall I’m pleased with the final product but I do plan to open the lining and cut away a couple more inches from the hem to get it just right! Well loves thats it for me I’m on to the next creative experience. I can’t wait to share my next project its already cut and ready to sew and I really think your going to love it so stay TUNED!
