"A woman’s dress should be like a barbed-wired fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view!"
~Sophia Loren~
I just love this quote by Sophia Loren it pretty much says it all for me! I mean it rings true and definitely speaks to me as a designer and creator. Sometimes it’s the simple things that inspire and speak to your soul and this quote happens to be one of those simple sentiments. While I love intricate designs with beautiful lines and outlandish fabrics, I also marvel at the simple things with little tweaks here and there that make them wonderful!
This brings me to today’s look a very simple dress with oversized bishop sleeves in a color I like to call orange citrus. Of course those of you that following my blog know this piece was inspired by a look worn by Erica Campbell of the group Mary Mary. For my version of the dress posted earlier this week I used an inexpensive light weight ITY knit. I must say I was extremely pleased with the outcome of my first attempt, thus I decided to give it a go again using a heavier poly knit fabric. However I've come to the conclusion that lighter is definitely better when making this particular dress. LOLL Well loves I hope you enjoy what I’ve done with my second attempt and for all those interested I plan to have a tutorial on my YouTube channel soon. So until next time I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!
Hugs
I used McCalls 6886 for the body of the dress and my own Bishop sleeve tutorial (posted on Video & DIY page). This dress was inspired by a look worn by the lovely Erica Campbell!
