Good Afternoon Lovelies! I hope you’re all having a wonderful week thus far and that you’ve had a chance to let out some of that creative energy via your sewing machines! I have a couple of things that I’ve been dying to share with my lovely sewing family today, so let’s jump right in.
Yesterday was extremely busy for me dealing with work related issues, family and getting caught up with my projects for the blog. I was so busy I didn’t have a chance to check my emails or social media accounts until late that evening. When I finally had a chance to actually check on everything I realized I received an awesome email from the wonderful representatives at Burda Style. As you may or may not know My Daily Threadz was entered into a Burda Style contest for one of the top 50 sewing blogs.
Well sewing family I am happy to report that My Daily Threadz was named as one of the top 50 sewing blogs for 2014! WOOO HOO! It is such an honor to be in the company of such awesome bloggers and to be recognized by the amazing individuals at Burda Style is just icing on the cake. I can’t express enough my sincere gratitude to everyone who voted for My Daily Threadz and I hope you know that I do not take your kindness towards me for granted. You all rock and I am so blessed to have such awesome Threaders who took the time to vote for me. I love you like XO!
Here is a picture of the wonderful Badge Amanda at Burda Style sent me to post here on the blog!
While it is hard for me to move past this awesome news I will in order to share one of the looks I finished this past weekend. I’m not sure how one forgets that they have leather in their fabric stash but somehow I did. I had a box of fabric sitting in the corner of my sewing room that I completely forgot about when organizing my stash a couple of weeks ago.
Well this weekend I finally went through the box and wouldn’t you know it, there were two pieces of black leather stashed between some black Ponte Roma. How that happened I do not know but when I pulled it from the box it spoke to me and I immediately knew what I wanted to make with it. I’ve wanted a short leather circle skirt that I could funk up with some boots and casual top for some time now and I decided to go for it. The final product turned out great but I will admit I was very nervous until I made the first cut! LOL I hope you enjoy the pictures and that you unlike me remember what fabric you have in your stash.
Hugs
I started with McCalls 7022 added pockets to the skirt with the lining material I used. I also cut the bottom portion of the skirt to give the illusion of pleats when really I just cut the front circle in half (kind of like a princess cut would be on a bodice).
