“To live a creative life we must lose our fear of being wrong”
~Joseph Pearce~
Good Morning lovely sew family! Happy hump day and oh what a fabulous day it is because I get another opportunity to do what I love. When you think about it isn't that what we all want? A chance to create and accomplish those things we feel most passionate about. For me being creative is like food to my soul and in the words of Maya Angelou “You can’t use up creativity, the more you use, the more you have.”
In other words if you ever feel like you’re fresh out of ideas and you don’t know what to do next, just sit back and allow what is already in you to come out! Everything about the pieces I made for this week’s post came from just sitting back and allowing the ideas to flow freely as the color/texture of the fabric spoke to me. I’m learning how not to stifle the creative energy and process within me by pulling back simply because I’m not sure how others will respond.
If I want to take MD Threadz to the next level I can’t allow fear to rule how and what I create! Being true to myself creatively means not having to pull back or curb my ideas for the sake of others! Instead its seeing the process for what it truly is creative GROWTH! So I guess my message to you today would be don’t hold back, let yourself go and don’t be afraid of where the journey might take you! Just think, on the other side of fear and anxiety is everything you could possibly want. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and that you enjoy the creativity that flows from my heart in this week’s blog post.
Hugs
As promised I’m mixing it up just a little bit! I decided to take the Blue Alligator print top from Monday’s Post and mix it with a black skirt I made using the draft your own skirt instructions from last week. I did create some style lines in the skirt by drawing simple lines on the pattern an cutting out the pieces. Once the pieces are cut out I added seam allowance to the area's I cut accordingly. I also added 4" waistband, a zipper and a split/vent for easy movement.
To get the lines you see to be more pronounced I trimmed the seam allowance down, ironed it to one side and topstitched it down. If you're not comfortable drafting this skirt from scratch FEAR NOT! Take one of your favorite fitted skirt patterns draw the design lines on the pattern and follow the same instructions I list above and there you have it!
Enjoy and Happy Sewing!
