“Don’t Let Someone Dim Your Light Simply Because It’s Shining In their Eyes”
~author unknown~
Good morning beautiful sewing family it’s throwback Thursday and boy oh boy do I have something to share with you! Technically it’s not a real throwback since I’ve never worn or taken pictures in this ensemble but I have posted about it previously so it’s a throwback in my book! LOLNow when you see this you’re going to say that’s not the same color blue shown in the previous pictures! Well you are right it’s not! While this has NEVER happened to me before I seem to be having some serious lighting/editing issues with my camera so it’s a tad lighter than the previous pictures and a couple of shades darker than some of the shots I’m sharing with you today. The point is I’m finally DONE with this project and regardless of my lighting issues I love the results.
For those of you interested in trying your hand at this project there is a step by step draping pictorial of the bodice process on the DIY & Tutorial page of the blog. I would definitely suggest that anyone thinking of giving this a try use a muslin draft first to ensure you get the right fit before cutting into your beautiful fabric. It is important to note that I cut two sets of the bodice so that I could fully line the inside of the garment for a more polished look (will post pic’s of this on the DIY page). Deciding to fully line the bodice required that I do quite a bit of hand sewing in order to properly finish my seams. Of course it’s really tedious work but if you want your garments to look professionally made sometimes you have to dig deep and get it done! LOLL
As I mentioned in a previous post I was inspired to create this look when I happened across a Rosie Assoulin design (on facebook) worn by the ever fabulous Solange Knowles. However for my version I decided to mix it up by making the front skirt higher, adding gathers for a more full look and widening the shoulders of the bodice just a tad. I have to admit I really love it and it made me feel all kinds of special modeling it for the pictures! LOLWell loves you know the routine, that just about does it for me this week loves. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and that you take a moment to remember our BRAVE Veterans who give so selflessly to us all as we celebrate Memorial Day.
Happy Sewing
Shari
