Changing Our House Into My Vision of a Home
~My Vision~
Hey loves I hope all is well with you on this fabulous hump day! While I could sing the same old song about how busy I am and how busy I'm sure you are I thought why not go in a completely different direction today. I mean the reality is life is life and sometimes other things take precedence in my life so sewing gets put on the back burner. Yes loves its true there are other things I enjoy immensely that don’t involve sewing per say but do involve being creative and thinking outside the box.
For instance I love home and interior design almost as much as I do fashion! If you ask me the two are so closely related that they often spill over into one another which may be why I love it so much. However since I’ve been so consumed with sewing and the Nina Ramel Collection I haven’t had a chance to work on anything else including my home remodel/decorating project. So I decided in order to preserve my sanity and my joy/love affair with fashion it might be a good idea to clear my head for a minute and do something else creative for a change. Not to mention relieving some stress and being able to cross one more thing off my list. I have put off decorating my home for several years because I just felt like it would be such a huge undertaking not to mention expense. Then I realized SHOOT if I keep money at the forefront of my mind regarding things I’m passionate about then nothing I want to accomplish will ever get done! LOLLL
While my ideas are grand in size and my budget well not so much at this point I’m determined! After all turning your house into a home isn’t about how much money you have at your disposal but more about you being creative and developing a space that speaks to who you are. Just as with fashion your home should be a true representation of the FABULOUSNESS that is YOU! With that being said I put my foot down this week and got busy planning! The first thing I did was think about what I wanted my HOME to say. Yes I know it sounds funny but think about it you know what you want your clothing and hair to say about you so why would it be different for your home? Well if you ask me there really shouldn’t be such a huge difference between the way you dress and how you live!
When someone walks into our home I want it to feel warm and inviting. I want every inch of my home to be free of clutter yet feel lived in and stylish. It must be a place my family enjoys visiting and it can never be so fancy that people are afraid to sit in the so called “White Room.” I want to enjoy every inch of my home, all the time, otherwise what’s the point? Once I figured out what I wanted my home to say I sat down with the hubby and kids and started browsing the internet for everything from paint to furniture and murals (yes for my booskie/son). Of course it will take much more than paint furniture and murals to transform our home into the vision I have in my head but let’s just say we’re off to a pretty good start! Here are a few pictures (just ideas we won't be doing the exact same thing) of where we’re headed. Believe it or not family we’ve already started the hardest part, PAINTING! Sheesh this may take a minute! LOL Until next time loves have a fabulous day and rest of the week.
p.s. I haven’t forgotten the tutorials I promised to do I just needed a breather. I plan to tackle them next week and post them here on the blog. As always love and hugs!
