“I’ve always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit”

Good Morning dear sew family and happy Monday to you all! Yes the weekend is over and here we are ready to rock and roll on this fabulous first day of the work week. I know many of you may not necessarily be morning people but I say hey if you woke up on this side of the ground it’s a good day and you have a lot to be happy about! LOL I had a great weekend filled with fabric shopping, pattern drafting, sewing and of course family. Really when I think about it I couldn't have asked for a more fabulous weekend.
Consequently during my fabulous weekend I came to terms with the fact that I have a serious problem family. I realized that I have a bad habit of getting excited about an idea starting said idea only to be distracted by another so called fabulous idea. LOL Seriously sew family I have a problem and I must be stopped! The good news is I did finally finish this retro style jumpsuit that’s been on my table for a couple of weeks so I guess you could say I'm making progress. This particular jumpsuit reminds me of the 80’s parachute/balloon styles we use to wear back in high school. Family when I say I neverrrr thought I would want to see that style again let alone create one for myself I truly do mean that. Of course several designers have pulled this and similar styles from the archives but I never gave it a second thought until now and I was NERVOUS! LOL
Despite my reservations I decided to throw my hat in the ring for my version of this style on the off chance that it just might work. I will admit it was a little touch and go at the start but I worked through it and created something I think you're going to like. So to get started I merged a vintage simplicity top pattern with a somewhat new simplicity pants patterns in order to create a working draft. Once I cut the pattern and made a rough draft in muslin that I thought would work I decided to go for it. Now when I finished sewing the draft I was a little nervous because it was HUGE and I thought to myself OH GAWD what was I thinking!! I took a deep breath, started cinching the draft in at the waist with a muslin sash and slowly but surely it began to turn the corner. All in all it worked out and I have to say I really like the results. I will post a pictorial on my DIY/Tutorial page of the blog later this week for those of you that would like to create this or a similar look for yourselves. Anyhoo that's going to do it for me today family I hope you have a great day and be sure to check back for the PICTORIAL!
Hugs
Shari
