"Surround yourself with people who are rooting for your RISE!"
~Me~
Good Monday morning fabulous sewing loves, I hope all is well with you and that you had a fabulous sew weekend. I personally had a wonderful weekend spending time with my sisters and friends hanging out, eating good food and doing a little shopping. Every once in awhile you need to take some time and just hang out with the girls for a little R & R! The great part about the whole weekend was the fact that I finished my sewing projects earlier in the week so I was able to chill with my girls all weekend, without having to rush back to the studio to get things done. Needless to say I ate too much, drank too much (ice tea that is) and laughed entirely too hard! I'm telling you having women in your corner who are rooting for you rise is AWESOME and I wouldn't trade spending time with them for all the money in the world.
So after spending all day Saturday out and about I finally set aside some time to take a few pictures for the blog. Of course after I finished taking pictures, I rushed back out with my girls and we picked up where we left off. But that's neither here nor there so let me get to the real reason you stopped by my vacation home my project reveal for the week! Today loves I'm sharing one of my new favorite patterns for the summer Vogue V9253 which they recently released earlier this month. Let me just say loves, rarely do I see patterns that I just have to have before they hit the stores but this one spoke to me immediately! The best part is I had plans for a similar idea in my head and now I don't have to drape/draft it myself. Thank you Vogue designers and staff I appreciate CHA! Now the kicker is not only did I envision great things for this pattern I knew exactly which fabric I wanted to use for my first go at it. Yes I said my first go at it because I will definitely be making this baby several times over this summer.
For this particular pattern I wanted my interpretation to speak to the BOHO chic hippie that lives within me, so I pulled out this fabulous Tie Dye printed Jersey that's been in my stash for about two years now. Yes it's been sitting in my stash begging to be used but because of my love hate relationship with jersey knits I simply admired it from afar as it continued to sit on the shelf. Well no more loves! I gave myself a good talking to and decided I was either going to use it or give it away. I opted to use it of course as I just couldn't bare to part with it. I'm so glad I decided to give it a go because this dress is absolutely fabulous and I love everything about it to bad I couldn't keep her. Yes loves she went straight from the photoshoot to a gift bag as a birthday present for my baby sister. When I tell you she barely gave me enough time to take it off before she was trying it on for herself I truly do mean that. Oh well easy come easy go! SHHHHHH don't tell her but I have the same fabric in blue so I'm going to make another one for myself this week. Well loves that's it for me today I have some prom stuff to prepare for so I have to sign off. Until next time I hope you enjoy what I've created and that you consider giving this fab pattern a try.
Pattern: Vogue 9253 Fabric: Lightweight Jersey from Angel Textiles.
Changes to Pattern: I decided to make the front panels cross over one another for a more modest front neckline. Next time I'm going to go for it straight no chaser! Oh and because I used Jersey knit I eliminated the zipper didn't need it at all!
Sash: I created my own about 120" long because I wanted the option of wrapping it around the waist as you see in the pics.
